Privacy Policy
Komari is a browser extension that helps you track the manga, manhwa, and webtoons you read. We do not run our own servers and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Your library lives on your own device.
What Komari stores (on your device)
The following is saved locally in your browser's extension storage and is never sent to us:
- Your tracked series: title, last chapter read, status/shelf, rating, notes, cover image URL, and the page URL you saved.
- Your settings (auto-track, alerts, sync, reading goal, etc.).
- Engagement data for your reading streak and the in-app review prompt (the dates you read on, a counter, and prompt-dismissed flags).
Optional cloud sync
If you enable Cloud Sync (a Pro feature), your library is mirrored using your browser's built-in sync storage so it appears on other devices where you're signed into the same browser profile. This is handled by your browser vendor under their privacy policy; Komari has no separate server and never receives a copy.
Page access
Komari includes a content script that runs on web pages to detect the series title and chapter number from the page you're viewing (it reads the page title, URL, and Open Graph meta tags). This happens locally in your browser. Komari does not read page content beyond what's needed for detection, does not record your browsing history, and does not transmit the pages you visit to us or anyone else.
Third-party services Komari contacts
To provide its features, the extension makes requests directly from your browser to these third parties (no Komari server is involved):
- AniList — to fetch cover art, power the Discover/search feature, and import your library when you choose to. Requests include only the series title or the AniList username you enter.
- MangaUpdates — to look up the latest released chapter for new-chapter alerts. Requests include only the series title or a series id you linked.
- Reader sites you save — when alerts can't match a series on MangaUpdates, Komari may fetch the specific page URL you saved to read the latest chapter number from it. Only the URL you stored is requested.
Payments
Pro subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, who acts as merchant of record. Komari never sees or stores your payment details. Please review the payment provider's privacy policy for how payment data is handled.
Analytics & tracking
Komari contains no analytics, no ad networks, and no third-party trackers.
Data deletion
You can delete all stored data at any time from Settings → Clear all data, or by removing the extension.
Children
Komari is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here and on the store listing.
